Abstract

The 70 mm FFAR rocket is a ballistic rocket used by the Indonesian National Armed Forces ( TNI)  to protect the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) from threats to national defense and security. This study aims to analyze the effect of the thrust profile on the performance of the 70 mm FFAR rocket during  flight. One of the key factors that influence rocket performance is the thrust profile of the rocket motor. The research uses a simulation method using MATLAB Simulink software. The simulations are conducted with  parameters including a peak thrust of 3265 N, a launch elevation angle of 40°, and variations in  thrust profile, spesifically Star and Tubular types. The simulation data includes rocket performance metrics such as horizontal range, vertical range, and velocity profile. The analysis results show that the horizontal range achieved by the Star thrust profile is 34% greater than the Tubular thrust profile. Additionally, the average velocity of the Star thrust profile is 17% higher than that of the Tubular thrust profile. These differences in thrust profiles are attributed to variations in specific impulse, which determines the rocket's thrust power during flight and ultimately affects its performance.
