Abstract
The development of composite materials in the field of engineering is very rapid, composite materials have the advantage of being resistant to corrosion, the ratio between strength and density is quite high (lightweight), cheap and the manufacturing process is easy. One of them is Kevlar. This material has a fairly high economic value, has the advantage of being stronger than metal and the structural components are lighter than metal. The purpose of this study is to determine the comparison of composites using variations of vacuum bagging and vacuum infusion, and the best results can be used to manufacture UAVs. Composite production this time uses lycal resin as a matrix and uses two methods, namely vacuum infusion and vacuum bagging. This study aims to determine the hardness value which is proven using thickness analysis to get the best hardness results. The results of this study showed that using vacuum infusion obtained a hardness value of 23.73 and a thickness value of 474.827 μm, while using the vacuum bagging method it obtained a hardness value of 16.33 and a thickness value of 486.927 μm, vacuum bagging has a higher thickness, thus the thicker the specimen, the softer it will be because there are many voids, so the best results obtained in this test are by using the vacuum infusion method because it has a higher hardness value.
