Abstract
Analyze the availability of aviation security facilities at the airside entrance (West Post) of Adi Soemarmo Airport and examine their implications for aviation security and safety risks. The airside area is classified as a high-risk zone requiring strict access control for individuals, goods, and vehicles. Adequate security facilities are essential to support Aviation Security (Avsec) personnel in preventing unauthorized access and identifying potential threats. This research is expected to provide insights and recommendations for airport management to improve surveillance and access control effectiveness in accordance with national regulations. A qualitative descriptive method was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the actual conditions of the security facilities in the field. Data collection techniques included direct observation at the West Post, interviews with Avsec officers, and document analysis of aviation security regulations and airport policies. Data were analyzed through source and technique triangulation to ensure the validity and reliability of the findings. This approach enables a comprehensive description of how security procedures are implemented and the challenges faced by aviation security personnel on site. The findings indicate that the current security facilities at the West Post do not fully meet the requirements of Ministerial Decree KM 39 of 2024. Essential equipment such as X-Ray machines and Walk Through Metal Detectors (WTMD) are lacking. This inadequacy increases the risk of security breaches, especially during the screening of individuals and goods. Therefore, the study recommends that airports procure standard-compliant equipment, enhance Avsec personnel training, and conduct regular evaluations of airside access security systems to ensure safe and efficient airport operations aligned with national and international standards.
